Consumers need to understand sustainability trade-offs and to keep up to date on information of what is best to buy. But we often talk about this as though it is easily achieved and it is not.
We all choose foods based on what we like, what we can access and what we can afford. But continued consumer interest in sustainable production will mean we buy produce that is sourced responsibly.
A question raised in this article is, there isn’t currently a certification that identifies food that can cut consumer food waste. While it is important for suppliers to show commitment to defining trade-offs in understandable ways, it is apparent to us that delivering outcomes that result in less food waste have become a target for these.
